Infrastructure Engineer (DevOps environment) - South West

We’re working with a growing Bristol based tech co, a leading developer of application software and implementation services to global medical, healthcare and protection insurance clients. With around 80 people in their Bristol office they are part of a global group which employs 5500 worldwide and around 600+ in the UK across 6 technology companies and multiple locations.

You’re next role?
We’re currently looking to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer for a DevOps environment, working with a team of engineers reporting to the DevOps Manager.
This is a key role providing technical services and support to both internal teams and external clients. 
  • Resolving technical support requests and continuous service delivery demands
  • Architectural design implementations including software, hardware, security and network requirements
  • Provision, installation, configuration and administration of internal and customer-facing servers, databases, network devices and firewalls both on-premises and within cloud data centres
  • Release management processes including package build, QA, release note documentation and delivery: installation and configuration of the platform cloud system in internal, test and client environments
  • Manage and maintain internal systems; installation, configuration and maintenance of IT equipment, infrastructure and desktops
  • Design and implementation of effective automation, monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions for a hands-off environment operation
And what are we looking for?
An experienced all round technical support person from a DevOps, Infrastructure, IT support or development background in Microsoft technologies experienced in the software development lifecycle.
Ideal skills:
  • Microsoft infrastructure stack including Active Directory
  • Installation & configuration of Windows services and applications on Microsoft server platforms, including IIS
  • Security best practices for infrastructure, environments and applications
  • Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
  • Server virtualisation technologies, e.g. VMWare
  • Knowledge of PowerShell
  • Microsoft SQL Server installation and administration, including T-SQL.
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration.
  • Configuring Microsoft based web applications and services, e.g. MVC 5, WebAPI, WCF
  • Knowledge and experience of working with containerisation technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher.
  • Azure DevOps
