IT Support Technician - South West

We’re currently recruiting an experienced IT Support Technician to provide 1st & 2nd line support in our clients Bristol office, supporting an internal team of c.60. It’s a hands-on role which will require a regular on-site presence with some homeworking.
Your next role?
Whilst you will primarily be responsible for support and ticket management, you will be part of a larger DevOps & IT Infrastructure team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and grow within this role. The IT Technician role is seen as the first step to progression into a DevOps Engineer role.  You will also gain experience in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting the portfolio of software that we develop using technologies such as PowerShell, Command Line Batch Scripting, and Chocolatey. 
  • Triaging and/or resolving IT support requests from users (remotely and on-site)
  • Installation, configuration and maintenance of IT equipment (PCs, laptops, network, peripherals)
  • Performing daily checks of overnight IT processes
  • Responding to automated alerts (e.g. storage/system services)
  • User management (Active Directory / O365)
  • Provide technical assistance to questions and problems
  • Administration of VMware. Creation of Virtual machines
  • Installation and configuration of the Actisure system in internal test and client environments
  • Develop and maintain effective support documentation
  • Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation for software licencing and hardware

and who are we looking for?
Someone with previous experience of Service Desk Support, IT Support, Desktop Support or similar customer support orientated role. 
  • A passion for IT and troubleshooting user issues
  • Tech savvy with a working knowledge of office products, databases and remote administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, customer oriented
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in a professional manner, face to face, on the phone and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate practical troubleshooting and problem analysis techniques.
  • Technical knowledge of installing and configuring services and applications on Microsoft server/network/platforms
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Virtualisation technologies, e.g. VMWare
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to show initiative.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload without supervision.
  • Be a highly motivated team player with the skills and ability to manage changing priorities.
