They’re the fast-growing UK arm of a global business with big ambitions, with a unique and highly regarded data set that has supported over 1700 scientific publications and many successful real world studies for the biomedical science community.
Your new Lead Data Scientist role?
The business has grown rapidly, and as they transition from start up to growth they are looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to join them. You will be at the heart of the UK operation working with a team of talented and experienced analysts and data scientists as well as multicounty projects and initiatives.
You will help customers and stakeholders to realise their ambitions through advising on study design and methodology, applying your skills and experience to plan and deliver studies using the businesses data assets.
To support the maturing organisation, you will help to develop structures and processes to fully realise the skills and experience of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring work is shared and delivered collaboratively with the aim of continually developing and scaling operations in a sustainable way.
They work flexibly with most of the team based at home with occasional days in the London office to bring the teams together.
· Provide epidemiological and scientific leadership to the organisation to ensure the successful delivery of customer projects
· Design and implement observational studies using routinely collected electronic health data (EHR) to support both business intelligence and clinical research
· Apply appropriate statistical, analysis and machine learning methods and techniques, in collaboration with colleagues & external stakeholders.
· Use appropriate data exploration techniques.
· Plan and manage data extraction, aggregation, integration and analysis using the Real-World Data available in the  panels and from multiple internal & external sources in collaboration with analysts and statisticians.
· Accurately interpret results in the context of research questions.
Our ideal person?
An experienced Data Scientist used to working with UK Primary and Secondary Healthcare Data.
· Strong technical and programming skills (SQL , python, R, STATA, SAS)
· Statistics: analysis, modelling, forecasting, hypothesis testing and inference
· Observational study designs (e.g. cohort, case/control, propensity matching, etc.).
· EHR phenotyping, controlled terminologies and health informatics standards (e.g. Read Codes-v2, SNOMED-CT, ICD10, ATC)
· Linking healthcare data from multiple data sources for business intelligence and clinical research
· Designing epidemiological studies using real-world healthcare data
· Writing up observational clinical epidemiological studies
· Preparing materials for conference presentations
Qualifications and Qualities
· PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, health data science, or equivalent experience
· Enthusiastic and professional approach to working with colleagues, clients and external collaborators
· Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to present information clearly
· Evidence of leading analysis of large healthcare datasets (e.g. primary care data), with application of appropriate statistical methods
· Able to exert influence across multiple internal stakeholders with competing priorities
· Proven project ownership and execution
