Lead Software Tester / QA - Lancashire

£45,000 to £55,000 + benefits and hybrid working - Testing and QA

We are currently looking to recruit a Lead QA / Software Tester to join a sector leading Lancashire based techco. Leading a small QA test team of 3 based in Chorley, which is part of a testing and QA team spread across Europe and Egypt. Although primarily a manual testing environment in the UK although there will be some automation testing working with the wider global team.

The role will see you working across multiple projects, testing cutting edge applications and products end-to-end and at the user level and code level. You'll develop a deep understanding of the software and client business requirements, helping drive refinement;  debugging problems; writing manual and automated tests cases with scripting tools and/or user-level automated tools.

  • Being the senior/Lead Tester in a team of 2 or 3
  • Review and analyse system specifications
  • Collaborate with QA Testers to develop effective strategies and test plans
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results
  • Evaluate product code according to specifications
  • Create logs to document testing phases and defects
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams
  • Help troubleshoot issues

Essential skills and experience:

  • An experienced Quality Assurance software tester with extensive manual testing skills and some automation experience
  • Previous experience as a Lead QA Tester or as the most senior tester in a team
  • Proven experience of training, mentoring and developing junior testers
  • Ability to introduce new ideas and processes into the testing environment
  • Hard working, ambitious and results driven with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Someone with a “can do” attitude who can embrace the use of technology in a fast-growing industry.

  • You can quickly isolate the root cause of an issue when it arises, and provide a practical solution
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle

The role is based in the companies brand new state-of-the-art Chorley office, right next to Buckshaw Parkway train station. It's a hybrid role which will require 3 days per week in the office, and more over the initial few months.
